Earmix is made by Sheik Ahamed, who is responsible for your data. Questions: support@earmix.app.
Your sound stays on your Mac
To change an app’s volume, Earmix takes that app’s sound, adjusts it and plays it straight back. Nothing is recorded unless you press Record, and then the file is saved on your Mac (tab recordings go to your browser’s Downloads folder). Nothing is ever sent anywhere. Earmix notices when an app uses the microphone, to lower other apps during calls; it records your microphone only when you record a call with “With my mic” on.
What Earmix sends
- Licence checks. When you activate a licence, and about once a day after, Earmix sends your licence key to our payment provider, Dodo Payments, to confirm it’s valid.
- Update checks. Earmix asks earmix.app whether a new version is out. Like any web request, it includes your IP address and the version of Earmix you have.
Nothing else: no analytics, no crash reports, no account.
Hearing health and the phone remote
Hearing health is off until you turn it on. It keeps daily listening times and estimated levels on your Mac only. The phone remote is also off until you turn it on; it answers only on your own network, and only to requests carrying the secret code in your link.
Earmix Tabs
The browser extension reads the title and address of tabs that play sound, only to show them in Earmix on your Mac. It sends them to the Earmix app over your browser’s native messaging, never over the internet.
Buying
Dodo Payments handles checkout as merchant of record, and receives your name, email, payment details and country under its own privacy policy. We receive your email and order details to send your licence and support you.
